Dark Nova, a mysterious new Decepticon threat, has been unleashing hordes of Great Galaman warrior drones on the unsuspecting Autobots. To counter this threat, a new sub-group of the Autobot forces has been selected: the Battlestars! They represent the cream of the crop of the Autobot army and entrusted to them is the task to resurrecting Optimus Prime. Sky Garry, leader of the Battlestars, is given the Zodiac by Dai Atlas and, until Optimus is back on his feet, is inaugerated as the temporary Autobot Supreme Commander. The all-powerful Zodiac appears to be the only force capable of returning Optimus Prime to life.
